The Museum of the Solar Boat, Giza
 Beside
the Great Pyramid of Khufu is a museum especially built to house
one of his 'solar boats'. Discovered
in a 'boat pit' at the site of the current museum by Kamal el-Mallakh
and Zaki Nur in 1954 and restored by Ahmed Youssef Moustafa, the
Solar Boat of Khufu is an exceptional object of beauty that highlights
the technological achievements of the Old Kingdom period.
The processes by which Ahmed Youssef Moustafa
restored and re-assembled the 1,224 pieces of the boat are described
in text and photos within the museum.
