The Morturay Temple of Seti I
The
Temple of Seti I on the West Bank of Luxor is seldom-visited.
Despite much damage (some caused by recent flooding), the reliefs
of the temple are masterful. Within the remains of the temple
is a shrine/sanctuary dedicated to Seti I's father, Ramesses I.
The Temple of Seti I complex seems to have been completed under
the rule of Seti's son, Ramesses II (the Great). It is thus a
most interesting example of a temple dedicated to one ruler and
his predecessor, but having been completed by his successor.
While at the temple we will challenge you
to find the rare cartouches of Ramesses I, and to differentiate
the superb relief carved under Seti I and the (some) less successful
relief dating to the rule of Ramesses II.

to the gods
