THE ART AND ARCHITECTURE OF ANCIENT
EGYPT
The art and architecture of the ancient
Egyptians is both fascinating and somewhat 'alien' to our
modern senses. To 21st century eyes ancient Egyptian art
is often mysterious - why did they show figures in such
strange perspectives? What is the hidden symbolism? What
does it all mean? The Egyptians made obelisks, pyramids
and temples - how and for what purpose? What role did heka
(magic) play in art and architecture?
This presentation will include PowerPoint
illustrated lectures, detailed and illustrated notes, and
activities to keep participants focused and enthralled.
While originally designed as a full-day Workshop, various
topics from this programme can be presented in the form
of a short lecture/s should you wish. Alternativey there
is more than ample material here for a two or three day
School if you should wish for a more in-depth study of these
topics!
